Our Classrooms
THe Eeyore ROom
The Eeyore Room services babies from eight weeks through approximately 18 to 24 months.
We support providing breast milk and formula provided by the family. The center provides an iron based approved formula should parents choose to ustilize the same brand. We also provide Gerber and Beechnut cereals, fruits, and vegetables for meal components. Snacks are also provided. When infants are ready we introduce whole foods as defined by our food program. Parents are responsible to provide diapers, wipes, and diaper cream. Individual cribs are provided for each infant.
The Rabbit Room
As infants become developmentally appropriate, they will transition to the Rabbit Room. The Rabbit Room services children from the age of 18 months to 24 months. This transition room supports fine and gross motor development and adheres to a curriculum rich in music, art, social skills, language development, and exploration.
Children move about the center as they are introduced to the potty room, lunch room, hand washing stations, and outdoor play area.
The play area houses sand play, water play, chalk art, water painting, riding vehicles and so much more fun to engage in.
The Kanga & Roo Rooms
The Kanga and Roo Classrooms are a combined setting that services children from ages 2 to 3. This setting provides toddlers with experiences in the areas of creativity and social interaction.
The Highscope Curriculum and Early Learning Standards are integrated into the daily schedule of lessons and activities. These classrooms utilize themes to make learning fun. Basic skill development is critical for this age group such as counting, color identification, letters of the alphabet, shapes, and language development.
Potty training begins and we make it part of our daily routine. Children also enjoy snack and meals together in addition to outdoor play time.
THe Tigger Room
The Tigger Classroom services children ages 3 to 4. This program facilitates the early learning skills children will need as they transition to Pre-Kindergarten. These preschoolers gain more self-esteem as they are ready to take on the world. It is our goal to provide a curriculum that fosters exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning to support early literacy, math, science, and social studies.
THe Pooh Bear ROom
The Pooh Bear Classroom services Pre-Kindergarten children ages 4 to 5. This program is designed to prepare them for a successful transition into Kindergarten. We continue to facilitate skill development in all content areas with a strong focus on science, social studies, and technology.
This classroom takes mini field trips. They present programs for parents, the local Senior Citizens, a Halloween Celebration, and Christmas Program with the finale of Graduation!
THe Christopher RObin room
The Christopher Robin Classroom is provided for school age children. This program is available for before school care, after school care, and care when schools are closed or dismissing early.
We also offer a summer program. Bussing to and from the Mount Carmel Area School District and Lourdes Regional is also provided. Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack are provided. We focus on getting homework done and reinforcing the curriculum and academic standards defined by the state and the local school districts.
The Owl’s Nest & owlet room (Pre-K Counts)
The Owl’s Nest and Owlet Room are two state funded Pre- K Counts programs free to all families who qualify. The programs service 30 three and four-year-old children who qualify based on family income and eligibility. Priority is given to four-year-old children but will enroll three your old children if slots are available. Children must be three or four by July 1st.
The programs operate from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Care at the center is available before 8:30 am and after 2:00 pm. Parents needing care will need to enter into a service contract adhering to the tuition rates for before and after school care.
These programs adhere to the Pennsylvania Pre-Kindergarten Standards and utilizes the High Scope Curriculum. Assessment and screening tools include: Ages and Stages Developmental Assessment and the Brigance Screener. Parent conferences and parent programs are critical to the programs.
The programs follows the Mount Carmel Area School District calendar of 180 days of service. Parents interested in the programs should come to the office to obtain an application. Enrollment is ongoing based on openings.
